"I was experiencing related arthritis - including back problems and knees. After one session with Anna Lisa, I experienced a significant reduction in pain and I was more aware of how much ofmy pain was a result of my physical stance and overall physical condition. My sessions with Anna Lisa gave me encouragement to begin to take other actions to change my lifestyle."

feldenkraisThe Feldenkrais Method is being taught in a variety of different environments with variety of different people - high performance athletes, children with learning disabilities, people living with physical disabilities and diseases that limit their daily activities and function, the elderly, people suffering from sleep deprivation, emotional illness, neurological disorders and more. Basically, this method is all about learning how to learn, so if you think about any context where there is potential for learning, this method fits.

The Feldenkrais Method works with people in two capacities - Awareness Through Movement classes and Functional Integration lessons. An Awareness through Movement class is taught to a group of people and Functional Integration lessons have the practitioner working on a one to one basis.

ATM classes and workshops offer participants the opportunity to explore existing movement patterns and learn new ones. Lessons mostly occur lying on the floor with the practitioner giving directions for specific movement while asking questions that invite students to develop a deeper level of self-awareness about their organization in movement. Being curious and paying attention to ourselves through this type of exploration, we invite our nervous system and our brain to find ways of being that build capacity, having us become more resourceful in all parts of our lives, not just in movement.

Functional Integration lessons are uniquely designed based on the individual's particular habitual movement patterns. The practitioner uses touch to work with the person, guiding their nervous system to become open to new and more efficient patterns for movement. The practitioner listens and offers new possibilities to the nervous system that offer the individual a new way of being in the world. Moshe referred to this process saying, "What I'm after isn't flexible bodies, but flexible brains. What I'm after is to restore each person to their human dignity."

Find your true weakness and surrender to it. Therein lies the path to genius. Most people spend their lives using their strengths to overcome or cover up their weaknesses. Those few who use their strengths to incorporate their weaknesses, who don't divide themselves, those people are very rare. In any generation there are a few and they lead their generation.
